Facelook

Monday, May 2nd, 2011

About a month ago, a couple of us Crazy Dogs were faced with upcoming bachelor parties, and needed to figure out which funny t shirts to bring for everyone to wear. Right here on this blog, we bandied about some ideas for what t-shirt to wear to a bachelor party.

Ultimately though, we both ended up doing the same thing – making a custom t-shirt featuring the bachelor’s face! It is great fun to hit the town with a bunch of people all rocking the same shirt, bearing the wide-eyed look of the groom-to-be.

But this style’s got staying power too! I love the shirt so much I’m wearing it again today. Who knows, maybe it’ll start a fashion trend. I’d call it “Facelook.”

Now of course this can be applied to either bachelor or bachelorette parties, so this is equal opportunity fun! Based on our experiences though, we have a few tips if you’re looking to make custom shirts for the occasion:

- Remember, priority number one is humiliating your friend as much as possible, so the goofier the photo or image of your doomed buddy, the better!

- As anyone who’s ever seen The Hangover knows, rambunctious bachelor party fun can easily lead to a lost bachelor. That’s why it’s always a good idea to include an “If lost, please return to ________” in the design, and add a specific address or hotel room number or porta potty location.

- T-shirts get thirsty too! …well, not really, but there’s no easier way to make friends in a bar than by asking people to give a little sip of their drink to the cotton re-incarnation of your friend, and pour a little into where his mouth is on the shirt. Good times!

Happy Paczki Day!

Tuesday, March 8th, 2011

Happy Paczki Day everyone! Oh yeah, we know it’s Mardi Gras too, but that is so played out. I mean, not that we have anything against Mardi Gras, that’s a totally cool and fun celebration. BUT, it does not revolve around a delicious pastry that is anything but just another donut.

Don’t take our word for it though – we were honored to be asked by Pumpernick N Pastry Shoppes of Buffalo, NY to create these cool t-shirts:

And here is their definition of Paczki Day and its sweet, scrumptious namesake:

People across the country will celebrate “Paczki Day” pronounced “poonch-key” or “punch-key” on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, known as “Fat Tuesday.” A Polish sweet good, Paczki, was traditionally the item eaten to mark Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras (as it’s known in French), the last “blow-out” before the fasting period known as Lent.

Paczki is not just another jelly donut. It’s a premium sweet good that is super rich, filled, yeast raised pastries or jelly filled pastries. Pastry craftsmen and women at the Pumpernick N’ Pastry Shoppes work throughout the night preparing thousands of delicious Paczki filled with traditional black raspberry filling to have available for their customers in Western New York. Customers will line up before dawn to purchase dozens to share with family and friends on Paczki Day!

So whether you’re looking to indulge before Lent or just wish you could participate in the Mardi Gras fun-stop by your local Pumpernick N’ Pastry Shoppes! You don’t have to be Polish to polish off a Paczki! You just have to have an urge for sinfully sweet bakery treats and a desire to participate in a centuries-old tradition!!! Don’t miss the Paczki phenomenon-it only happens one day a year!

For more information about Paczki, please contact the National Paczki Promotional Board in Michigan at 1-800-884-1500.

Zombies on the brain again

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

We’ve had zombies on the brain a lot lately – not literally, because that would be very bad news for us! No, I mean we argued over last week’s episode of The Walking Dead here, we blogged about Humans vs. Zombies earlier this week, AND we made some sweet tees for Zombie Popcorn

THEN, we read this news about Sears’ new zombie-themed website on The Consumerist! This is NO joke! Sears actually created a whole web portal for all of their undead shoppers! Check it out: http://www.sears.com/Zombies

Wow, zombies are seriously taking over!! Are YOU prepared for the zombie apocalypse??

Rochester: Made for Eating

Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010

At Crazy Dog, we’re really proud of our hometown here, Rochester, NY. Something you hear a lot around here is “Think Local. Drink Local.” And with good reason! We’re fortunate enough to be nestled in the Finger Lakes region, home of some of the nation’s best wineries. Rochester is also home to The Genesee Brewery, which is one of the oldest continually operating breweries in the nation.

We’re all for consuming the fruit of the vine and a few good ol’ barleypops (responsibly, and only if you’re legal drinking age, of course), but what we really love is to Eat Local. Can’t think of any catchy slogan to rhyme with that, but eating local here in Rochester is delicious enough, it doesn’t need one.

We’re really lucky to be working with great local companies too, especially those that create some of that delicious food we’re talking about. Take Brandani’s Pizzeria for example – they’re one of the handful of pizza joints in town to have been given an “A” by the Rochester, NY Pizza Blog. Forget friends in high places – we got friends in pie places.

But what about dessert? Rochester is home to one of the finest gourmet cupcake makers ANYWHERE in Dollop Gourmet. Who ever heard of cupcake delivery?? Check out the care package we received today:

The Greater Rochester Visitor’s Bureau slogan is “Rochester: Made for Living.” We totally agree – we might just add “…and working and eating!” I guess those kind of fall under the “living” category, but here in Rochester, we make sure we do it right!

Other places we love and hope you do too: Remingtons (on Merchants Road), The Winfield, Sugar Mountain Bake Shop, Nathans Soup and Salad, The Plum House, Rocky’s, Abbott’s Frozen Custard, and of course, Charlie Browns in Penfield.
