I’ve had a lot of career dreams in my life.  When I was a little tater tot I wanted to be a Garbage Man which aside from the obvious benefits like riding on the outside of a vehicle and afternoon napping, would allow me to moonlight as a secret spy agent where I would take down the neighborhood hoodlums by collecting the evidence they would carelessly toss into the trash.

Then, I changed my mind and wanted to be a Pig Farmer, because I loved Pigs and I thought for sure my farm would be just like Charlottes Web only without the Pig being planned for dinner and definitely without that whiny-ass spider lecturing everyone.  Mostly it would just be a farm with pigs on it, so nothing like Charlottes Web really.  The farm kind of petered out when my parents got pissed that I was trying to raise some swine in my room in secret, and it wasn’t until I was in 7th or 8th grade when I dared to dream again and realized I had a face for a radio and a hankerin to talk all the time.  Obviously, I was destined to become a DJ, with my own globally known Hot 5 at 9 show which would always consist of some combination of  Technotronic, C&C Music Factory, MC Hammer, Tone Loc, and Hootie and the Blowfish Vanilla Ice songs.  I tried to break into the industry at an early age by making my own Mix-Tapes peppered with my own voice-overs and introductions but Syracuse radio is a notoriously hard market to tap and unfortunately for the public I never got the break I needed.

I thought for sure my dreams for fame, fortune and being Mrs. Marty McFly were dashed, but here I am 20 years later sitting in my bed home office writing for a wildly popular blog that people can’t get enough of read sometimes when they need a laugh and hanging out with giant celebrities like Michael J. Fox.  By “hanging out with” I mean “wearing” and by “Michael J. Fox” I mean “a Back to the Future Tshirt“.  The lesson here?  Don’t drink and drive.  Crap, that’s a different lesson.   The lesson here is Dare to Dream.  I didn’t get as cool as I am sitting at home playing Sega Genesis and eating Turkey Bologna.  Get out there and grab those beautiful butterflies kids, that Pig Farm is yours for the taking!
